CLASSIFIED GRANT
The state has awarded our organization 135 scholarships for classified employees from 24 districts who want to become teachers.
The Yolo-Solano Center for Teacher Credentialing in partnership with Davis Joint Unified School District, has been selected as a California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program grant recipient for the third time. This program is a teacher career pathway created to recruit, assist and support classified school employees leading to a teaching credential. Eligible program participants may receive stipends up to $4.320 per year for the next 5 years to cover eligible expenses (tuition, fees, and books) for becoming a classroom teacher.

ELIGIBILITY
- Must be a classified employee at time of application
- Must have an AA, or successfully completed two years of college (Official Transcripts Required)

PARTICIPANTS MUST COMMIT TO ACCOMPLISH ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Must maintain an employment relationship with your district of record.
- Pass background check (Certificate of Clearance)
- Graduate from an institution of higher education with a bachelor’s degree if you have not completed a BA/BS already.
- Submit official transcripts and exam results.
- Pass all required tests for credentialing (i.e., CBEST, CSET, RICA.)
- Obtain a multiple subject, single subject, or educational specialist teaching credential.
- Complete one school year of classroom instruction in a school district, charter school, or
county office of education of the consortium for each year that you receive the Grant.

Golden State Teacher Grant (GSTG)
Students enrolled in the Intern and Programs are eligible to apply for the 2023-2024 Golden State Teacher Grant (GSTG). The grant awards up to $20,000 for students who meet the requirements.
Grant Details & Requirements:
- Students must be enrolled in a professional preparation program and working towards earning their preliminary teaching credential.
- Students must complete their program and obtain their credential within 6 years from the date their initial GSTG payment is mailed to their institution.
- Students must commit to work 4 years at an eligible California priority school or California preschool program within 8 years of completing their program. The current Priority List can be found on the grant website.
- Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress (SAP).
- Students must be eligible to receive federal and California financial aid.
Applications for the 2023-2024 Golden State Teacher Grant will be accepted until April 1, 2024, or until the funds have all been awarded, whichever comes first.
How to Apply:
- Complete and submit the 2023-2024 Golden State Teacher Grant Application.
- Please select Preliminary Teaching Credential under “Credential you are pursuing”.
- Please select Davis Joint Unified School District under the “Preliminary Teaching Credential from Eligible List”. If a student selects a different college or program, their name won’t appear on the YSCTC Program's applicant list. Therefore, the institution selected will update the student’s status to ineligible and the student will need to contact the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) to correct their application.
- Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or CA Dream Act Application for the 2023-2024 academic year. When selecting a school, select a 4-year institution such as UC Davis or CSU Sacramento. Davis Joint Unified is NOT listed as an option.
- Once the FAFSA is complete and finalized, download the Student Aid Report (SAR) and email the report to Zeynep Aynagoz Evrensel zaevrensel@yscenter.org
The processing of the 2023-2024 awards begins August 2023 and all communication related to the grant will be sent to the students’ yscenter email address.
- We will review the student’s application and confirm eligibility for the grant after their program has commenced.
- Once eligibility and enrollment verification are complete, the student will receive an email advising that the Service Agreement from the California State Aid Commission (CSAC) is ready for review and signature. The Service Agreement needs to be signed within 30 days of enrollment verification or the application may be voided.
- If awarded, Yolo Solano Center ( LEA Davis Joint Unified) will receive the recipients first check within 7-9 weeks after completion of the Service Agreement and request for grant funding by Yolo Solano Center Intern Program. Please be aware that grant funds will be disbursed in one check during the 2023-24 academic year.
- Grant recipients will be notified via their yscenter.org email when their check is available for pick-up.
