Preliminary Application Items

The Preliminary Application Checklist is the most helpful and has links to several other documents to help guide your process.  Please contact  Taryn Tyrell (YSCTC Program Manager) if you have questions about any of the items below.
Item
Description
CL-888
The primary Commission for Teaching Credentials document available online and is the most comprehensive information guide.  This is purely for your reference and informs you as to what is required for both the preliminary and clear credential.
Preliminary Application Checklist
A document from our program that lists the documents needed for your application.  As the Program Sponsor, our office is the authorized submitter of Preliminary CTE Credential applications.  This checklist ensures we have all the materials necessary to review your qualifications for the credential, and make a recommendation to the commission on your behalf.
41-4 (application)
The application for the Commission.  This needs to be filled out and submitted with your other Preliminary materials.  Beginning on Page 6 of the PDF linked to the left, you will fill out sections 1, 4, 6, 7, and 9.  We will be able to complete the rest in our office or during advisement.
Authorization Selection Form
Identifies the the Industry Sector(s) for which you are seeking review and authorization. Please refer to CL-888 for clarification of options.
Experience Verification
This document will clearly outline what information is needed in experience verification letters from employers.  This is used along with your resume, and is usually the heaviest lift for the qualified candidate.
Employment Verification
To complete the requirements for the preliminary credential, our program is primarily structured around you teaching in k-12 education within the context of one of the CTE Industry Sector authorizations on your Preliminary CTE Credential.  Your employing school/district will fill this form out for you, and needs to verify FTE (Full-Time Teaching Equivalent) allocated to CTE courses.

Scheduling

Meetings for information or consultation in regard to CTE Credentialing can be done by scheduling a video conference or phone call.  We will not be holding any general office hours or information sessions at this time.
If you have questions or to schedule a meeting please reach out to  Taryn Tyrell, Program Manager.
