PRE-SERVICE
Dates: Spring Pre-Service: January 29 -May 23, 2025 (16 week program -hybrid format)
Summer Pre-Service: May 5- August 1, 2025 (12 week program -online format)
We will begin accepting pre-service applications for our 2025 cohort in starting November 1.
Applications must be complete in order to be considered.

Applications from candidates who are within our service region (Yolo, Solano, and Sacramento Counties) are give priority when applying for pre-service.
What is Pre-Service?
The Pre-Service coursework is designed to introduce candidates to various aspects of the teaching profession. Pre-Service is one requirement that must be met for admission into our upcoming Intern program, designed to prepare eligible candidates to be teachers of record. Our Spring Pre-Service runs from Feb to June and our summer program runs from May to beginning of August. It is a rigorous program that candidates must successfully complete to be recommended to be intern ready.
How do you apply for Pre-Service Program?
In order to enroll in the Pre-Service courses of the Yolo-Solano Center for Teacher Credentialing -Intern Teacher Program, candidates must meet the requirements listed below.
- Attend an Information Meeting to learn about the program, determine eligibility.
- Hold a Bachelor degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education (official transcripts are required). If you earned your Bachelor's Degree from a Foreign Institution, please refer to the CTC Foreign Transcript Evaluation leaflet to see what agencies are approved for transcript evaluation.
- Provide official transcripts from each institution attended (a transcript MUST show the bachelor’s degree conferred)
- Meet Basic Skills Requirement. On June 29, 2024, Governor Newsom signed Senate Bill 153 (Chap. 38, Stats 2024). This budget trailer bill addresses multiple topics related to education. Included in this new law, among other provisions, is the allowance of a candidate’s bachelor’s degree to meet the Basic Skills Requirement (BSR) for most credentials.

- Provide receipt of a VALID Certificate of Clearance from CTC (fingerprinting).

What is the tuition for the Pre-service Courses ?
Tuition for Pre-Service is $1700. A non-refundable application fee of $50 and $200 enrollment fee are due with the Pre-Service application to be enrolled in the Pre-Service Program. The application fee and program tuition apply to the coursework for the cohort enrolled in only. If a candidate is unable to complete the Pre-Service program as scheduled, the candidate is still responsible for the full program tuition.
Candidates who are unable to complete the pre-service program as enrolled, and must re-enroll in future cohorts to complete courses will be admitted if in good financial standing (previous program tuition paid in full). The tuition for outstanding coursework will be $200 per course.
Candidates may be charged late fees and/or unenrolled from coursework if they are not in good financial standing

Partnerships with other District Intern Programs
The Yolo Solano Center for Teacher Credentialing has established partnerships with the following district-based intern programs: Placer COE, Sacramento COE, Lake COE, North Coast School of Education, Teachers College of San Joaquin, and Kings COE. Candidates wishing to enroll in one of these programs may take pre-service coursework with YSCTC and are eligible to receive transfer credits for pre-service coursework provided the candidate has taken and successfully passed the entire pre-service coursework at YSCTC. In addition, pre-service candidates that have taken and successfully passed pre-service coursework from any of the above named district intern programs, may apply to the YSCTC intern program and YSCTC will accept pre-service coursework from Placer COE, Sacramento COE, Lake COE, North Coast School of Education, TCSJ, and Kings COE. Candidates who take YSCTC coursework and plan to enroll in another intern program, must obtain an intern eligibility letter from that program.

Transcript Request for Preservice
If you completed your pre-service at Yolo Solano Center prior to Spring 2025, and would like to request your official transcript, please fill the transcript request form and pay the transcript request fee on the online payment site.
Regular Processing $5.00 each (processed within 5-10 business days)
Rush Processing $15.00 for one copy, $5.00 for each additional copy (processed within 48 hours)
Candidates that complete pre-service in Spring 2025 and later can request their transcripts through Parchment services.
